History
Amanresorts was founded by Adrian Zecha in 1988 through happy accident. While looking for a home in Phuket, Adrian came across a beautiful coconut grove overlooking the Andaman Sea. It made business sense to build a small resort to recoup part of his investment, and thus was Amanpuri conceived – the first Aman resort. Amanpuri opened in January 1988 and celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2013.
Amansara Resort
Amansara resorts owns and manages 20 small luxury resorts worldwide. Each Aman resort is singularly unique but all offer an experience for guests that is intimate and discreet, while providing the highest level of service. Cruises
A number of Amanresorts have cruise boats but the flagship Amanpuri in Phuket puts an entire fleet the largest of any resort in South-east Asia at its guests disposal with a tailor-made selection of cruise experiences. The professionally crewed vessels range from 20 to 110ft, carry full insurance and keep a variety of recreational equipment on board. All craft are available year-round.
Diving
From walk-in wall dives off Amanwana beach on the nature reserve of Moyo Island east of Bali, to the pristine reefs of Northwest Point Marine National Park only 500m offshore of Amanyara, most of Amanresorts beach locations provide access to some of the world best dive sites. Each resort professional dive centre attends to the needs of divers of all levels.
Golf
Championship golf is never too far away at Amanresorts.
At Amanjena in Marrakech, Morocco, the Amelkis Golf course lies adjacent to the resort, with splendid views of the High Atlas Mountains from its challenging fairways. A second course, Royal Golf de Marrakech, is just a few minutes drive away.
